Introducing LEAD Edu

Dear Friends,

Today, we are excited to officially announce our transition from LEAD Africa to LEAD Edu!

During the second half of 2020, we established a new long-term strategic plan to guide us through the COVID-19 pandemic and into the future. In addition to hiring a new Executive Director at LEAD Monrovia Football Academy (done) and expanding our team here at LEAD (also done!), we concluded that our growth is contingent on this name change.

The adjustment to LEAD Edu releases the organization from geographic restrictions. While growth within Africa remains core to our strategy, we will now work to make LEAD a global leader addressing the double disruption of COVID-19 and automation through leadership development.

As part of this transition, we are also reframing our academies in Liberia and Morocco as LEAD Hubs. The shift to ‘Hubs' instead of 'Academies' allows us to capture the impact of LEAD Monrovia Football Academy, LEAD Morocco, and future LEAD Hubs in its totality. The academies are the heart and soul of our Hubs – they bring depth to our work, ensuring we have a vehicle that will yield long-term systemic change. But beyond the academies, our Hubs also impact thousands of youth annually through nationwide sport tournaments, STEM and Leadership camps, and in-person events. By referring to the academies as Hubs, we now have the space to communicate about that broader, communal impact.

Our work began in Liberia, but leadership, education, and sport are universal. With this change, we open the door to becoming a global leader in leadership development.

The past year has been a uniquely challenging time for all of us, but we hope you share our excitement as we transition to LEAD Edu. Watch this space for more updates coming soon!

With gratitude,
Team LEAD
