How Zeta Kromah Is Helping Shape the LEAD Global Network
This summer, LEAD Edu had the pleasure of welcoming Zeta Kromah (LEAD MFA ‘24) as the very first intern for the LEAD Global Network. The LEAD Global Network connects students from LEAD Hubs to transformative educational and career pathways around the world. Over the course of her nine-week internship, Zeta brought the same leadership and dedication she has consistently shown since her early days at LEAD Monrovia Football Academy. She contributed to the important work of the LEAD Global Network, from researching post-secondary opportunities to leading alumni social media takeovers.
Through her weekly office hours, Zeta connected with fellow LEAD MFA alumni and current students across Liberia and the United States, creating space for open conversations about their needs and experiences. Her insights are helping shape how we better support LEAD Hub students and alumni on their educational journeys.
As we continue to grow the LEAD Global Network, it is vital that we learn from alumni like Zeta, who are paving the way for others. Read on to hear directly from Zeta about her internship experience and what it meant to her.
Zeta Kromah, LEAD MFA ‘24
“Through this internship, I’ve grown in so many ways. I developed stronger research skills and learned how to apply what I found in ways that support LEAD’s work.”
My name is Zeta Kromah and I’m a sophomore at the College of William & Mary, where I study Business and Sociology and play for the Tribe women’s soccer team. I’m honored to be the first LEAD alum to intern with the LEAD Global Network. Since joining LEAD MFA in 2015 as a 4th grader, I have always strived to demonstrate leadership in all that I do. In 2024, I became part of the first graduating class of LEAD MFA and was named valedictorian of my class.
Interning with the LEAD Global Network this summer was an eye-opening introduction to the professional world. At first, I was nervous about the transition, shifting from being a student-athlete to stepping into my very first internship. But I’m grateful that my first professional experience was in such a supportive environment. The nine-week internship provided me with the flexibility to balance my other responsibilities, such as training with the semi-professional soccer team, TwinStars FC in Minnesota.
Through this internship, I’ve grown in so many ways. I developed stronger research skills and learned how to apply what I found in ways that support LEAD’s work. I also became a stronger storyteller by leading alumni-centered social media takeovers, and I improved my active listening skills during the student and alumni office hours.
One of the highlights of my internship was the weekly check-ins with Daniela Bolanos, LEAD Edu’s Marketing & Communications Associate. She provided guidance, mentorship, and moral support while holding me accountable to my tasks. Her encouragement created a safe space to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn from them, which helped me grow more confident in my work.
My favorite part of the internship was hosting weekly office hours with LEAD MFA students and alumni studying in Liberia and the United States. Connecting with former classmates and teammates on a professional level and discussing their well-being and experiences was both exciting and rewarding.
For me, what makes the LEAD Global Network meaningful is the strength of the community and the mission that drives it. The program shows how deeply LEAD Edu values students, alumni, and their futures. I’m honored to have interned with LEAD Edu, and this experience has given me the courage to keep learning and finding ways to make a positive impact in my community. Thank you, LEAD, for this opportunity. I look forward to many more experiences like this one where I can learn, grow, and contribute to opening doors for others, just as LEAD has done for me.
